  • World Book Day

    Thu 02 Mar 2023

At Wellfield Junior School we certainly celebrated World Book Day in style! We started the day listening to Mr Worrall read a 'bedtime story'. Mr Worrall acted out the story with great enthusiasm and energy. It was like the characters were actually in our school hall!

Later in the day the children read to younger children at Wellfield Infant School and Nursery. This was a great experience! We also had a 'book swap'. The children enjoyed having the opportunity to choose a new book to enjoy reading at home.

Finally, we were treated to a visit from the author, Stuart Rowson, who shared his fantastic novel, 'Izzy and the Tumble Thunder'.

On Friday 10th February we would like the children to dress to express and come to
school in their own clothes. We will be having a coffee afternoon in the hall (for parents/carers only) where you can chat and meet new friends. The coffee afternoon will take place in the school hall from 2.30pm until 3.15pm. Please arrive at the school entrance if you wish to join us for the coffee afternoon.
The children will be having their own social event in the classroom and chatting over a drink and a biscuit.

  • Remembrance Day 11th November 2022

    Fri 11 Nov 2022

The whole school joined the Royal British Legion and the National Literacy Trust in an interactive live assembly, along with other schools across the country. With music, poetry, film, photography and more, this unique experience brought Remembrance to life in new ways to ensure the children understood why we continue to remember. We learnt the Royal British Legion's 'Remembrance Song' and then joined other schools across the country in singing it, before participating in a two minute silence.
